Cirqueon – A Center For Contemporary Circus provides a training space fully adapted to the needs of contemporary circus: there is sufficient ceiling height, ample suspension points, a performance floor, exercise mats, trapezes, silks, ropes and other equipment.
In 2011, we intend to support and provide rehearsal space to these non-institutionalized group and individual artists who lack their own administrative resources:
Bratři v Tricku
Adam Jarchovský and Václav Jelínek have been performing as a juggling duo for several years. Apart from the Czech Republic, they have also presented their art abroad, e. g., at the Shanghai EXPO 2010 in China. Their art requires daily practice of juggling techniques (approx. 2 hours a day). Bratři v Tricku are not supported by the Czech grant system and Cirqueon provides them its facilities.
Amanitas
In 2010, the Amanitas company formed around performer Tereza Georgievová after a successful premiere of her performance project at the Letní Letná festival. The Amanitas combine new technologies, acrobatics, dance and juggling techniques (contact juggling and fire dance). In order to keep up and improve their artistic and technical level, they need a space for regular rehearsals. Amanitas receive no support from the grant system of the Czech Republic.
Décalages – Theater In Motion
Décalages is a household name of top-notch aerial acrobatics in the Czech Republic.
As a civic association (občanské sdružení), Décalages apply for professional-artist grants for creation and performance of their projects. However, they don’t have any rehearsal space at their disposal which is a necessity for maintaining and improving the quality of their artistic productions. Décalages have approached us with an offer for partnership.
Cirqueon is also regularly approached by foreign artists coming to study in Prague. On a long term basis, we support Swiss professional acrobat Stephanie N’Duhirahe and her performance partner Morgan Widmer who perform on the Spanish web and use Cirqueon as a training space. In exchange, they teach Czech artists.
